Riding tough waves with fun.
Ex.Pgirl presents "Waving Hello" at HERE Arts Center

Ex.Pgirl, a physical theater group established in 2002 by Bertie Ferdman, Kiyoko Kashiwagi, Paula Salomon and Suzi Takahashi, presented their ensemble piece "Waving Hello" at HERE Arts Center in SoHo on January 12, 14, 19 and 21, as a part of the Ninth Annual CULTUREMART Festival, which was a production of HERE Arts Center. Their performances became popular and tickets were sold out.

"Waving Hello" was a one-hour of full pleasure, which used singing, dance, a language game and video projection. Four women from different countries go surfing powerfully to ride tough waves of New York, and also walk around the city with light jaunty steps. The structure was unique: between the scenes, video images take close-up of the four women's individualities, and in the actual scenes, physical movements take a new turn. They grasped the audience by their distinguished teamwork.

Ex.Pgirl are artists in residence at HERE Arts Center, and began creating this piece in April 2003. The performers consist of one dancer and three actresses, who together create the dialogue and movement, offering ideas to one another, and working off of repeated improvisations.
